CT Angiograms

Toshiba 16 detector CT scanner is currently available at the Schilling Campus Outpatient Imaging Center. The scanner enables us to obtain sub-mm axial images following rapid injection of intravenous radiographic contrast. Post processing on our workstation generates high quality 3 dimensional images. A 64 slice scanner will be available at the main campus late summer- Fall 2005.

Potential indications include evaluation of:

• Circle of Willis for subarachnoid hemorrhage
• Carotid bifurcation for TIA
• Proximal mesenteric vasculature for mesenteric ischemia
• Resectability of abdominal tumors
• Renal vasculature for hypertension, for donor planning, or for presugical planning
• Aorta for aneurysm, as well as pre-and-post-stent graft
• Iliac and lower extremity arterial vasculature for ischemia

We request:

• Your patient be able to tolerate IV contrast for the procedure (not allergic and normal renal function)
• a BUN and Creatinine within the last 3 months for patients at risk for decreased renal function
• a medical indication for the procedure
